Holiday Schedule – Chandler Dojo
Comments Off The Chandler dojo will not have classes on Wed., Nov. 24 (day before Thanksgiving) because the Community Center closes at 5 pm that day. Also, There will be no Aikido classes on Wed., Dec. 15 due to our Christmas party and awards ceremony being held on that evening. The last class for 2010 for the Chandler dojo will be Wed., Dec. 22.
AOP at Chandler’s 4th Annual Day of Play
Comments Off Aikido of Phoenix put on a demonstration at Chandler’s 4th Annual Day of Play on Sat., Oct. 16, 2010. We had students from Mesa, Chandler and South Chandler demonstrate a wide range of techniques that were real show stoppers. Everyone did a fantastic job and those watching were able to see a broad spectrum of what Aikido has to offer. The younger kids showed off some of the most basic and fundamental techniques and the older kids added techniques from motion as well as demonstrated more complicated moves. The adults rounded out the event by including more advanced techniques including break falls, kicks, ground defenses and weapons work. We ended the demonstration with Sensei doing a randori. They wowed the crowd with their fluidity and grace. Thank you to all the students for helping to make the demonstration a huge success.
Holiday Schedule – South Chandler Adults
Comments Off The adult classes at the South Chandler dojo are not effected by the Thursday holidays in November so they will have classes as scheduled for November (no class on 11/25) and their last class for December will be Mon., Dec. 20.
Holiday Schedule – South Chandler Kids
Comments Off Looking ahead on the calendar there are two Thursdays that are holidays in November (Veterans’ Day 11/11 and Thanksgiving 11/25), therefore we are combining the two open Thursdays in November with the first two Thursdays of December to make one month. So the last class for 2010 kids’ classes at the South Chandler dojo will be Thursday, Dec. 9.
No December Adult Classes in Mesa
Comments Off Looking ahead, there will be NO ADULT CLASSES in Mesa for the month of December. The center changes it closing time December 13 to 7:00 which conflicts with our adult class time. This will also affect the older kids’ class for three classes. Beginning Mon., Dec. 13 the older kids’ class will begin at 5:50 and end at 6:45. The last class for Mesa students in December will be Mon., Dec. 20. Classes will go back to their regular schedule when classes resume on Mon., Jan. 3.
Dojo Field Trip
Comments Off Dojo Field Trip Our Saturday, September 11th’s class will be to attend the Arizona Aikido Fall Bridge Camp, featuring Hiroshi Ikeda and Mary Heiny. As usual, we will meet at Lucy Mailloux Sensei’s house for breakfast and then carpool to Prescott for the day. Be sure to bring a lunch and plenty of beverages for the day! New Student Information
Comments Off If you have recently joined us I’d like to welcome you to Aikido of Phoenix. We hope you have an enjoyable time training and we encourage you to ask any of the instructors or fellow students if you should have questions at any time. We are glad to have you on the mat!
Each month that you train you will need to register with the city by filling out a registration form (online through the City’s website or at the location) and paying the city fee. You also need to pay the instructor fee for each month that you train. You may do that through our website (www.AikidoOfPhoenix.com) or at the dojo. You can register for multiple months at a time to help save a little time and effort. If you need to take a break you do not need to register, but as soon as you get back on the mat the city requires you to be registered. If you have any registration questions, don’t hesitate to ask another student, Sensei or myself. You can contact me through email on our website, at the dojo or give me a call at our new phone number (480-639-4628).

Mesa – No Class on September 6
Comments Off The Mesa dojo will NOT have classes on Monday, Sept. 6 as the Red Mountain Center will be closed for the Labor Day holiday. Classes will resume on Friday, Sept. 10.
Chandler – No Class on Aug 31 and Sept 1
Comments Off The Chandler dojo will NOT have classes on Tuesday, August 31 or Wednesday, September 1. The Community Center will be stripping and refinishing all the floors so we will not have room to train. Due to how the dates fall on the calendar each month still provides us with four weeks of training. Enjoy the break and we’ll see you when classes resume on Tuesday, Sept.
